Xbox Game Pass renews quietly through your Microsoft account, and the wording trips people up - you are really turning off recurring billing, not deleting anything. Do that and you keep playing until the period ends. Here are the official console and web steps, plus when a refund is possible.
Go to Microsoft's Services & subscriptions page and sign in with the Microsoft account you use for Xbox.
Click your Xbox Game Pass subscription to expand its options.
Click Turn off recurring billing and confirm - this stops future charges while keeping benefits until expiry.
On Xbox: press the Xbox button, go to Profile & system, Settings, Account, Subscriptions, pick Game Pass, then Cancel subscription and confirm.
Forgot you were even paying for this? You are probably paying for others too. SubScan adds up every subscription, flags what you have stopped using, and ranks your fastest savings - so you cancel the right ones and they do not creep back. Everything stays on your device: no bank login, no account, no upload.
Start your free auditYes. Turning off recurring billing keeps your Game Pass benefits active until the current period's expiration date.
Sometimes - Microsoft says you may be eligible to cancel immediately with a refund, but not all charges are refundable. Use the Services & subscriptions page to check.
Both work. The web Services & subscriptions page is usually fastest; the console flow lives under Settings, Account, Subscriptions.
